Oculus Hand Tracking

Client: Oculus, Farmer’s Insurance | Agency: Talespin | Role: Senior Producer | Platform: Oculus Quest

At the Oculus Connect 6 event, Mark Zuckerberg announced hand tracking technology for Oculus. This makes controllers redundant, as users can use their own hands as virtually displayed controllers to interact with objects in virtual reality. Part of the announcement was a demo to display what can be done using this technology. The demo we created was to demonstrate the possibilities of the hand tracking interaction in a realistic business case.

I was leading the team to create the enterprise demo that was part of this keynote speech and event. In the demo we make use of this technology and interaction, as well as showing the commercial possibilities. The demo was about finding water damage in a kitchen and assessing whether it’s human-fault or insured damage. After the event, we expanded upon the demo for our client Farmer’s Insurance to make a full-fledged training application they use to train their employees on how to recognise water damage.
